At Gorilla3PL, we are passionate about sustainability and committed to positively impacting the environment. We believe that businesses can play a vital role in addressing climate change, and we’re taking steps to reduce our carbon footprint, challenging ourselves to reach net zero and promote eco-friendly practices.
One of our recent initiatives involved partnering with the Woodland Trust to plant 1026 trees, a project that aligns with our goal of offsetting carbon emissions and contributing to a healthier planet.
We were met by a planting expert who surveyed the area; we committed to an area of approx (0.64ha / 1.13 acres) to plant 1026 trees. Drainage is poor because our land consists of a clay base with topsoil, so the first step was to select more water-tolerant species.

We also planted a variety of shrubs, such as Alder Buckthorn, Hawthorn, Hazel, Blackthorn, and Elder. Each tree was carefully planted, using protective tubes and stakes to shield it from deer and wind damage. A 1m circle of mulch was also applied to suppress weeds and help the trees establish themselves. The selection of trees is not to create a woodland for harvesting but a great environment for nature to inhabit

In the future, we plan to apply for the government’s Woodland Carbon Guarantee scheme, which will allow us to sell carbon credits generated by the woodland. This will contribute to climate change mitigation and provide a financial return on our investment.
