Over the past six months, our organisation has embarked on a significant ISO journey, initially shaped by our extensive experience in event management. This background forced us to create complex documentation for carrying out events in central London, especially for temporary structures like those at the London Marathon on The Mall. Recognising the critical role of thorough documentation, robust management frameworks and problem solving, we initiated our ISO 9001 certification process for our warehousing and fulfilment company, Gorilla3PL. This effort has refined our documentation practices, enhanced our operational efficiency as well as strengthened our management and reporting systems, positioning us well for our next chapter.
The benefits below contribute to a more reliable, efficient, and customer focused service from the fulfilment / 3PL company, which can be a competitive advantage for businesses relying on fulfilment, storage, and logistic services.
Improved Service Quality:ISO 9001 requires a fulfilment / 3PL company to implement a quality management system, which means processes are standardised and monitored. This leads to fewer errors in fulfilment & logistics operations, ensuring customers receive their goods on time and in the right condition.
Enhanced Customer Satisfaction: The standard focuses on customer requirements and satisfaction. A fulfilment / 3PL company adhering to ISO 9001 will have mechanisms to measure customer satisfaction and address issues swiftly, leading to better customer service and responsiveness.
Consistency in Operations: ISO 9001 emphasises process management and continuous improvement. Customers can expect consistent service quality, as the 3PL will have documented procedures for all operations, reducing variability in service delivery.
Risk Management: ISO 9001 encourages risk based thinking. For a fulfilment / 3PL, this means identifying potential issues in the supply chain before they become problematic, offering customers more reliable service with fewer disruptions.
Audit and Compliance: Customers can have greater confidence in fulfilment operations due to regular audits required for ISO 9001 Certification. This ensures that the fulfilment provider meets regulatory requirements and adheres to a recognised standard, which can be crucial for customers operating in multiple countries or those who need to assure their clients of quality logistics support.
